THE ARTIST'S JOURNEY

MY WORK

I'm an Artist currently based out of Madison WI with over two decades of experience in illustration and design. Over the years I've developed a body of work that is defined by my experiences and stands out as my own. My early years were spent immersed in comics, sketch books and the 90's culture that raised me. Inspired by my hero's like Jim Lee and Todd McFarlane I was determined to perfect my skills in illustration and reach the level of my idols. Originally going to school for animation I eventually found that my preferred area of study was Graphic design due to its versatility in blending imagery and information. While studying in Chicago I was fortunate enough to collaborate with various artists and creative teams, from story boarding for student films to sharing black books with local street artists. After graduating from art school I began working as a screen printer and freelance illustrator, where I eventually landed myself a career in Tattooing. This allowed me to develop my illustration skills even further by rendering various subjects on the spot which expanded my range and versatility as an artist. As a professional tattoo artist I gained a deeper understanding for the use of hierarchy and composition while taking on new themes and their subject matter. While continuing my work in Graphic Design as a Tattoo artist I recognized an appreciation for working in mixed media, combining various creative tools to give my work an extra element. Using a plethora of materials from paint markers to rattle cans and collage, I feel this chaotic process provides a level of grit and energy similar to the culture that inspired me. Continuing my work as an artist and designer I'm drawn to bold themes that complement my creative approach blending an old school attitude with new school techniques.

THE PATH AHEAD

My goal is to continue pushing my limits and developing a style that speaks to what inspires me. I believe in producing work that is original and sets itself apart from the heard.
